I- PROGRAM PRESENTATION
Digital innovation constitutes nowadays an asset and an essential element in the organization and functioning of the political space. For two decades we have witnessed the imposition of the internet and social networks as a major determinant of politics and public governance. In many African countries today, young people use social networks and new technologies to monitor the actions of elected officials and the functioning of governments.

In a context where this use of technology is only increasing, the Oriental Laboratory is launching the “Democracy and digital innovation” Program which aims to promote new information and communication technologies, social networks, innovative technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen the civic and political engagement of young people and women, the empowerment and accountability of political actors.

II- ORIGINALITY OF THE PROGRAM
This Program which is done online and physical is mainly aimed at young people and consists of training them in the creation of innovative digital content for the promotion of democracy and good governance in Africa.

The originality of this program lies in its ambition to train young people in East Africa to harness artificial intelligence, digital and technological innovation to defend democracy, protect human rights, and advance individual freedoms.

This program is therefore intended to prepare the young political elite of tomorrow—young women and men who are engaged in civic, public, and political debate in their countries and who aspire to play a greater role in their countries’ political life.
