About Us
We are the Oriental Laboratory of the Innovation Foundation for Democracy, a dynamic Pan-African organization at the forefront of research, education, and knowledge production on substantive democracy. Our regional focus spans Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda. We are based at the headquarters of our host and strategic partner, the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ-Kenya), in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified expert consultant to design an engaging, practical, and impactful training manual on democracy and digital innovation, targeting youth in East Africa.

 

Key Responsibilities
Design a youth-centric training manual on democracy and digital innovation, integrating participatory learning and digital tools.
Align content with regional democratic contexts and digital trends.
Develop outcome-based learning modules suitable for physical and digital delivery.
Provide guidance on implementation and monitoring frameworks.

 

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary consultant with a strong track record in designing and implementing impactful training programs at regional or international levels. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic perspective, technical rigor, and a passion for civic empowerment and digital transformation.

 

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
At least 5 years of experience developing and delivering training programs preferably within the fields of democracy, civic education, governance, or digital innovation.
A proven ability to translate policy, theory, and research into practical, learner-centred training content that engages youth audiences.
Demonstrated ability to integrate results-based monitoring and evaluation frameworks into training design.
Capacity to assess learning outcomes and refine materials for continuous improvement.
Excellent analytical, writing, and facilitation skills, with a record of producing high-quality manuals, toolkits, or educational materials.
A recognized voice or contributor in regional or global civic innovation spaces is an asset.
In-depth understanding of the East African political and social context, especially related to youth engagement and democratic governance.
A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to reflect this in program content and delivery.
